What happens in an eye examination?

Having an eye examination at Optometrist Warehouse goes beyond reading letters on a chart – though of course that remains a crucial part of the process!

At Optometrist Warehouse, we’ve invested in advanced diagnostic technology which you will see as part of your Medicare bulk billed eye test – meaning there’s no out-of-pocket costs for you.

When you arrive in store, our team will take you through the following tests as part of your eye examination:

  • Advanced OCT 3D eye scan – this machine takes a detailed 3D scan of your eyes
  • Widefield retinal imaging – this machine takes a wide image of the back of your eyes, which show the health of the blood vessels & optic nerves
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) analysis – we use advanced algorithms to identify any outlying data in the scans which may indicate areas that need addressing

Following these tests, you will be taken through a consultation with our optometrist.  The optometrist will review the images with you and guide you through a process to measure your vision – this includes reading letter charts!

If your results indicate a requirement for vision correction, our experienced team will then take you through finding the perfect glasses to suit your face and the lenses that fit both your prescription and your lifestyle.

As part of this process, you may want to also opt for contact lenses.  If so – our team will be able to order in diagnostic lenses for you to practice with and ensure you have the process of insertion and removal thoroughly down pat before you commit to purchasing lenses.

By including advanced technology with every bulk billed eye examination for no additional fee, we’re able to track every patient’s vision and eye health over time, facilitating early detection and treatment of serious eye conditions. We collaborate closely with local ophthalmologists in each community we serve to ensure timely appointments and intervention.
